Santa Barbara, CA- The Michigan Wolverines Women’s Club Lacrosse team had a hard fought game against the Cal Poly Mustangs Saturday afternoon. It was a defensive battle all game long. Cal Poly scored first and from there it was a back forth game. Michigan managed to gain a 4-2 lead heading into halftime.
Cal Poly started off the second half on a three goal run to take the lead 5-4. After Michigan tied the game at 5, the Mustangs once again regained the lead, 6-5. However, from there on out, it was the Wolverine’s great ball movement and capitalization of free positions that gave them a 5-0 run to win the game. It was a great overall effort by both teams; but the physical and intelligent play of Michigan gave the edge to win the game.
Michigan will now use the lessons learned from this game as they face Georgia this evening.
