Michigan outplays Western Michigan in blowout

Ann Arbor, MI- The Michigan Wolverines started scoring early and often. They were simply too much for the Western Michigan Broncos, and Western’s defense did not have an answer for Michigan’s offensive firepower. The Wolverines had possession for most of the game and when they did not, the defense made sure to hold strong and cause issues for the Broncos.
Michigan got off to an 8-0 lead, before the Western Michigan Broncos scored their first and only goal of the game off a free position. After finishing the first half on a 4-0 run the Wolverines took a 12-1 lead into halftime. Julianne Patterson finished the first half with 4 goals and 1 assist; additionally, Karly Rolls managed 3 consecutive assists.
After the teams returned to the field from halftime, the scoring fury from the Wolverines continued as they matched their 12 goal performance from the first half. Many different players contributed to the win, as 7 managed to score during the half. Julianne Patterson added another 3 goals and 3 assists to her total and Katie Mezwa had 4 goals and an assist.
The Wolverines will hope to carry their strong start into their game against Michigan State later today.
