Jen Dunbar enters her 4th season as Head Coach for the Michigan Women's Lacrosse team this semester, her thirteenth year coaching the sport. In her four seasons leading the Maize and Blue Dunbar has amassed a 47-19 record earning a .712 winning percentage. She has led the Wolverines to one WCLL Championship and two National Tournament berths. The team finished in 6th and 5th place in her first and second season, respectively. Dunbar is second all-time in wins and winning percentage at the helm of Michigan Women's Lacrosse.
Previously, Dunbar coached the Grosse Pointe South JV squad before taking on the head job coaching Birmingham United. With assistant coaches Ginny and Kasey Hughes, Birmingham United has won three Michigan State Championships. Dunbar is also credited with the formation of the Detroit Lacrosse Club, a travel lacrosse team for middle school through college-aged players on which several current Wolverines have played in the past. Dunbar's other coaching experience comes at the youth and high school levels in soccer, basketball, and tennis.
Dunbar was a three sport athlete (participating in soccer, lacrosse, and basketball) at Ohio Wesleyan University where she earned her B.A. in Physical Education and Health. During her college career Dunbar was named all conference in both soccer and lacrosse.
Having also obtained her teaching certificate, Dunbar earned a Masters of Education degree in Exercise Physiology from Wayne State in 2001. Jen successfully operates her own athletic training business, Real Detriot Muscle. She currently resides in Royal Oak, Michigan.
