The True Meaning of Life is back!

    And so is He-Man!

The Sports Guy in Sin City -- It's Vegas, baby.

I got a computer gaming magazine the other day in the mail -- except that the plastic bag was torn open and someone shanghied the demo CD. I swear, if it's not that, it's the moron who delivers to our neighborhood, who will cram anything he possibly can into our 5" x 5" x 1' mailbox.

Over the weekend Jules and I drove down to Perrysburg Ohio to enjoy dinner at the northernmost Waffle House in the land -- well, that may not be true, but I think it's the closest one to Ann Arbor. It's certainly the easiest one for us to get to.

Speaking of my lovely wife, I have to give her some made props for completing her project to write 50,000 words in a month, even if she did her victory dance all over the house last night.

I'm still here! It's just that I'm on vacation, is all, enjoying simpler things like Chairman Shatner, Justice League, Hot and Now, and early Christmas shopping as opposed to sitting online all day. I'll pipe up if anything important pops up.

Oh, I got this catalog from the NFL Shop where you can get a personalized replica game jersey for like 60 bucks. The neat thing was that the mailing had a blank Rams jersey on the back covered where they'd printed my last name on the back as if it were mine.

Now what would be really awesome would be to put "DWINN" on the back with number 74. Booyaka!

I had an interesting weekend. Jules, my homies and I went to the Seoul Garden for dinner Friday, and I had a big heated stone bowl full of rice, meat, and vegetables. This would have been great except that there were a few unidentifiable things in there -- I assume one was a seaweed or maybe a spinich, but there was some shaving-like bits that seemed to be like tree bark, and then there were the strips of white/semi-transparent flavourless gelatin.

Actually, I could deal with all of that, but the stone bowl had fused the rice lining the edges into a gummed inedible mass. The girls liked the sushi, tho.

I was able to watch a lot of football and get other assorted tasks done over the weekend, including some holiday shopping, and Jules and I relaxed at the Oasis.

Darn, I had something I know I wanted to include but now I can't remember. Must be getting old...

Ladies and Gentlemen, the one, the only.... ShitKid!

Good sports day today. I actually watched parts of games from the big four pro sports leagues -- baseball, football, basketball and hockey -- an opportunity that doesn't come around very often. I saw a great Bears comeback after work, then saw the Diamondbacks win the World Series in the bottom of the ninth while catching both the Pistons and the Wings play, not to mention a decent Jets-Saints matchup.

I'd been puzzling over three changes in sports television lately, and have answered two of them. I noticed that Mickey Redmond wasn't doing the latest Wings games -- turns out he's cut back on his travel schedule this year and will miss about ten games. Likewise, I noticed that Kelly Tripucka was not doing Pistons broadcasts locally, and learned that he moved back to his home of New Jersey to do Nets radio.

The only question left -- what happened to the TV version of The LockerRoom? I know the radio show is still on, but I watched the TV show back when the guys were on basic cable. If they're gone for good, that will suck. Channel 4 replaced it with some crappy half-hour sports roundup and an infomercial -- oh swell.

I got home Halloween night just in time to hand out candy to about ten kids. It was depressing, since it's my favorite holiday and not only did I have to work late, but turnout was low all around. Ah well --- I suspect with time things will come around, and next time I'll get the day off. Jules did a great job cobwebbing the back yard after I'd gotten the lights and stuff up.

So it's November already. Where does the time go? It's almost 2002. Seems like it was just the other day that Y2k and all that crap was supposed to happen, and just yesterday that we got married. Thanksgiving and some time off is coming up, and then Christmas. Yikes. It's going to be a bit more frugal a Christmas this year, since I have loans to finish off and a house to save for, but I'm gonna get the shopping out of the way early this time, baby.
