Where does one universe end and another begin? For that matter, what separates one shadow from another? For such a long time my perspective let me see time and space as set and measurable. To travel from one place to another you must spend time traveling through space. I had never found a magical method of traversing space in any other fashion than the standard linear method. However, when Korvan used Logrus to pull himself into and out of my shadow it opened up a lot of questions in my mind. The question of where he came from took on a great deal more than spatial proportions. Soon I had walked the Pattern and was myself able to shift through the infinite shadows. The we came to another barrier. This one was the demarcation between the universe we know and the one created by Corwin. From what I know I cannot reach Corwin's set of distinct shadows with my Pattern imprint powers. However, much like I was able to follow in Korvan's Logrus wake. Our group can now follow Quinn into Corwin's universe. Martin stayed behind as insurance with Darien to guard him. Quinn's Rose Trump of Martin should be able to contact him across the universe barrier. The rest of us (Jessica, Connie, Luke, Deirdre, Locke and myself) followed Quinn as she shifted us across.

The RoseAmber universe was immediately notably different from ours by the haphazard way in which the shadows were scattered. It was unlike even hellriding because neighboring shadows bared no resemblance to each other.

Quinn stopped at the edge of a large crater. She informed us that she sensed a presence with standard Amber Pattern imprint. What could it be? Had someone followed Corwin through? Had someone followed us? When we investigated we found something rather disturbing. There was a corpse at the bottom of the crater which appeared to be the dead body of Martin. This lead immediately to the conclusion that he had fallen here from the Abyss. Neither my magic nor Quinn's could fully confirm that this was Martin, but the Pattern imprint and the datajack installed in his head added up. We pressed onward towards Quinn's home shadow of Erna and brought Martin's body with us.

When we arrived in Erna we decided to bury Martin and come back for him later. As we were finishing this task we received another shock. Two large airborne crafts passed overhead. Quinn was certain that technology of the sort to create the crafts was not available in this shadow. Things had changed. I was depressed to be facing another shadow of advanced technology. I would not make the same mistakes I made in Texas, but when I tried to contact a local about becoming our guide the other stopped me. They were afraid to make any contact. I'm not sure of what this fear was born, but they were more accustomed to technology than I, so I deferred to their judgment.

Quinn, Jessica and Locke went off to assess the situation. When they returned Quinn informed us that over 400 years had passed since she left. This was the explanation of their jump in technology. It still takes a little getting used to that events occur at different rates of time in different shadows. Centuries passing in one shadow while only months pass in another is simply amazing. Luckily, we were still able to find a portal to Amber that Quinn had used once before.

The portal was in some sort of research institution. After I did a little convincing of the staff we were able to use the portal to fling ourselves to RoseAmber.
