Symphonic Evening

This gala event happens every other year, in the winter of even numbered years. This is a major fundraiser for our tour programs. It includes a dinner, live and silent auctions of items obtained by the students and their families, and performances by Wind Symphony and Jazz Band. This is intended as an outreach to the community, to familiarize non-band people with the excellence of our band program and give them an opportunity to support the bands’ efforts. This event takes a tremendous amount of planning and participation. We start working on it over six months in advance, but it is well worth the effort.

Ticket Information

This gala event takes place at the Ypsilanti Marriott. Each YHS band family is responsible for selling two tickets to the event. Each band student receives two numbered tickets in an envelope. The tickets are $30 each, which includes appetizers and a buffet dinner. Both Jazz Band and Wind Symphony perform at this event. As we have expressed before, this event is planned as an outreach to community members who may not be familiar with the excellence of the Ypsilanti High School Band program. Tickets can be sold to relatives, co-workers, dentists, insurance agents,...the list is endless. The fundraiser portion of the evening is the auction, so we like high bidders! All money is to be collected at the time you take the order. Please make all checks payable to "Ypsilanti Bands Parent Guild" (or YB Guild). No order will be processed without payment in advance. PARENTS: Please write a check for any cash your child collects, as no cash will be accepted. Also, please write your child’s first and last name in the memo section of all checks.

U of M Concessions

This was a new fundraiser in 1999 and turned out to be quite profitable as well as fun. We sell concessions in a booth at all U-M home football games.

Tag Day

This occurs every May on a weekend. The band students dress in their summer uniform shirts and stand in front of participating businesses to request monetary donations. The shifts are about two hours long. This benefits the band or bands which participate.

Funds generated are ear marked for paying scholarships.

Recycle Printer Cartridges

Recycle your used Ink Jet and Laser Printer/Fax Cartridges

We as concerned citizens believe that one of our responsibilities is to help keep our environment clean within our community. In an effort to place fewer plastic products into our landfills we are partnering with Enviro Smart/AAA Environmental, Inc. to institute a new and exciting recycling program that can provide a positive cash flow for Ypsilanti Bands.

The use of Ink Jet and laser cartridges is increasing rapidly. This recycling program has been developed for our use as a fund-raising program. We are looking for empty good condition Ink Jet and laser Printer/Fax Cartridges that you, your friends, neighbors, relatives and/or colleagues may be using in your homes and offices. If you are presently using Ink Jet or laser technology and are throwing your used cartridges away, please contact me. I will supply you with "mail-in" bags that are pre-addressed and have proper postage. Each time you change your printer, fax, plotter, cad, etc. cartridge, please place the used cartridge in the mail-in bag and drop in any mailbox. AAA Environmental, Inc. will be paying our School money for every good condition cartridge that is recovered.

This is an excellent way to clean up our environment and do our part in keeping this plastic out of our landfills. It is also an excellent way to raise much needed funds with no cost to us!
