The Secret Place: "Renewing Devotional Practices"

 Rev. Jeff Hlavin

  1. The secret place is meant to be a place of privacy with the Lord (Mat 6:5,6).
  2. The secret place is a place of interaction and foundational strength (Psalm 25:14).
    1. Consulting: coming to consult with Him; coming for counsel. It is two people entering into counseling chambers to determine direction, to discuss answers.
    2. To found; not just the beginning or start of a project, but in the sense of a bridge being founded on bedrock.
  3. The secret place is a place of dividing up and dispersing what is being "stored up" (Mat 6:5,6).
  4. The secret place is meant to be lifebegetting (Psalm 91: 1; Lu 1:34,5).
  5. The secret place is meant to be a place of sharing intimacy (Zeph 3:17). Strength and creative doings will come from those who know God intimately (Dan 11:32).
    1. To know, learn to know; and to be made known, be or become known.
    2. To make oneself known, reveal oneself
    3. To know by experience.
  6. The secret place is meant to be preventative in nature (Mark 14:378).
  7. The secret place is meant to be a place of refuge and sanctuary for your soul from the storms of life (Psalm 31:20; Psalm 27:5; Psalm 61:4; Psalm 91: 1).

    1. Using a different translation than you normally use.
