It's the Time of the Season for... Something!

We're now hip-deep in AMC's Monsterfest with competition from Fox Movie Channel's 13 Nights of Fright, which is substandard in quality but does have little intros and bumps from Neil Gaiman. Last night, in between the very satisfying Bengals-Broncos tilt on ABC we watched the enjoyable Terror Train.

Save some static window things, all of the Halloween decorations are up, and I got a pumpkin before the county ran dry.

The yard is full of leaves.

And now for something completely different: I recently got a gift card to Toys R Us as part of the rewards program for my credit card.
I went there last night looking for one specific gamecube game. When I got to the racks I found the one I wanted and took one of the empty boxes up to the desk to buy the product -- and then was told that they were out of that title.

If you're out of a specific title then why are there five empty boxes on the shelves (to be brought up to the counter to buy the real game)?

Toys R Us Stinks! (stinks!) No wonder they're probably going to go under.

Yeah, the Hot Pockets was my idea

So I was in the same boat that was in -- wife left me for the long weekend.

About the Hot Pockets -- We saw the Fruit Pockets in the store one day and I noted that now you have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert pockets, so you can goa whole day eating nothing but pockets. Julie scoffed at this in her usual way, so I decided when she went on her field trip I'd try to go the weekend eating only pockets. I was only partially successful, since I made a pie with the cider mill apples and I had snacks when I went to Allen's to watch football, but -- I had a lot of pockets and am no worse for wear.

When I told Allen this story he said that all that was missing was "Drink Pockets". I suspect if they existed they would be something like Capri-Sun.

Anyways, Friday I hung out at Dann's and Kayla and I played some Donkey Konga; Saturday I watched football and hung out with Allen and Laura; and Sunday I did chores and watched more football.

Now I'm at work and I have a canker sore which is pissing me off.

    Things and Stuff

My fantasy football team is pretty lousy this year. No real mistakes on my part; I just have a few marquee players who have yet to produce. I've won the league in the past, so I don't need to come in first -- but I'd still like to finish at .500 or better, which will require a little work.

Mom seems no different to me than she was before the stuff that happened a couple of weeks ago. They're still trying to figure out what method of attack they want to use.

It's October, so I like to do seasonal things like watch football, look at the Halloween Countdown and related nonsense, and go to the Cider Mill (w/ no parking fee).

    Shatner Sings -- AGAIN!

    Monkey Jail in India.

Atlas of the DC Universe. Sorry, Gotham is NOT in Jersey.

Franks Nursery and Crafts is going under.

    That's all for now.
