    Weekend Update

  • Pistons/Pacers fallout: Sports Guy Bill Simmons just wrote a column where he echoes many of the points I made. Sweet!

  • Mom's tumor has shrunk 25%. Dude! Sweet!

  • Oh, I have one of those "Livestrong" yellow wristbands now too.

  • Tonight I have to buy a turkey and the turkey preparation materials. (I brine the turkey beforehand, just like Alton Brown.)

  • Tomorrow I need to pick up World of Warcraft.

  • Actually, I'm off for the two weeks after Thanksgiving, during which time I intend to do all my Christmas shopping. Everyone should update their Amazon wishlists! I'll be doing that too. I also have a list at Funagain.com as well.

    My Big Adventure Day

Last night they opened up the World of Warcraft beta, and before I went to bed I got started on the 2.5 gig download. (!)

When I woke up, it still had several hours to go. I had the day off of work, so I went out to see my Mom. She's been hit with the fatigue and non-appetite from the chemo she took, but she was happy to see me and vice versa. She's actually doing better with it with each passing day, altho I look at her moving so gingerly and it reminds me of my grandma when she was in the nursing home, and it just brings me so *down*... I'm not ready to give her up (I doubt anyone really ever is...) because she's the prime, shining example of unconditional love, ya know? I count my blessings that I had her (and my Dad) together in my life for all my life.

As Bill Simmons would say, I think it's getting a little dusty in here.

Anyways, enough of the sappy stuff... I fixed their computer while I was there, so I guess I didn't totally avoid work... although wrangling with spyware and their new antivirus stuff wasn't really that big a hassle. All they want to do is web, email, and IM.

So I got back to town and went straight to gaming and had fun, then came home to find that my 5 dollar copy of Mega Man Legends finally showed up (it was so cheap from a Toys R Us gift card that my credit card rewards program gave me -- Amazon finally started taking them) -- sweet! Although I seem to remember the original Mega Man being a LOT harder when I was twelve. I'd almost forgotten about the WoW download -- it was done, and add another ten minutes for install -- and there I was.

Hard to make an impression just yet -- the only other MMORPG I played was Everquest and that was when it first came out, and I didn't care for it -- but the translation of the Blizzard/Warcraft world in all ways -- the world, the character, the fonts, voice acting, etc -- is exceptional. I'm 'dwinn' on Test Server 20 if you're in the neighborhood.

(Hmm, this post is full o' ellipsis... "dot dot dot!")
