Fark Photoshop Contest: New 37cent Stamp Design

A while ago I'd wondered why every gas station you'd see was trying to get you to buy mulch. I discovered that many kinds of mulch are full of synthetic material which is actually made by the big oil companies -- thus mulch is sold at gas stations.

Second questions -- what's with the different colors of mulch? Well, it's more than how aesthetically pleasing it looks -- the color of the mulch can influence the growth of the plants around it. Check out:

    March's Assclown of the Month!

We rented Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back last night, so ever since I've been saying "YOU are the ones that lick balls!" at random intervals.

More basketball this weekend. Duke lost, proving the time-tested law that Duke Sux.

Starbucks is actually suing a web page for "illegally linking to their site". Well allow me to be Johnny Lawbreaker: Starbucks Sux.

Hey, it's almost Easter time, so here's a few pertinent studies about Marshmallow Peeps from Emory University:

  • The problems involved in Peep Surgery are particularly challenging.

  • This study concerning Peeps and the effects of Smoking and Alcohol has mixed results.

I watched a lot of basketball this weekend -- probably in total over 24 hours worth -- with my homie Dann. Each year I do three brackets -- a conservative choice, my regular picks, and some crazy-upsets. I'm doing OK -- the crazy upsets is toast, but the other two are fine, and all of my final four picks are still left on the conservative side.

Julie was good to me this weekend. Friday she bought me a pop-up map of Las Vegas that she saw at the bookstore, and Sunday, when I got home from work, I found a big old new sofa pillow on "my" sofa (to replace the mishmash of old frumpy pillows I had been using). We also did a little cleaning (it being almost Spring and all) -- well, I did a lot less cleaning than Julie, but I'm guessing that's not a surprise.

We saw Resident Evil on Saturday night, and it was fun, though I guess I would have liked to have seen more more blowing-up of zombies and more of the zombies tearing up humans. Zombies are cool -- and by cool, I mean totally sweet.

This is one of the better times of the year, as March Madness is upon us, and I'm making sure all my brackets are filled for the various contests online. I was able to secure the next few days off to watch what is arguable the best two days of pure sport -- the opening round of the NCAA Men's College Basketball Tournament.

The games will start at noon tomorrow and end sometime after midnight -- there's sixteen of them in one day -- with the same thing all over again Friday, then more rounds over the weekend. And next weekend. And the weekend after that.

I think this article sums up everything about tomorrow: The True Essence of March Madness

    Here are some classics:

  • I Gave My Cat an Enema: Poor Fred.

  • Cliff Yablonski Hates You: A simple premise -- send in a picture and it gets ridiculed. This has been entetaining me all week.

    And here's a new one:

  • Lewis Black talks about Video Games

It's a bit of a sad state of affairs when you're trying to think of content for this space. I lead a pretty sedate lifestyle, one that doesn't lend itself to a lot of bombast or rumination on the topics of the day. For example, this weekend was pretty lazy -- the most we did was go to my folks' for my brother's birthday. No explosions, juntas, or radioactive monsters encountered.
