a) The single R is pronounced with one flip of the toungue against the alveolus, behind your upper teeth. This is a trilled R. In Italian is pronounced like the "tt" sound you find in English words like: butter or better.

the R is doubled, its sound is a definite roll of the R, multiple flutters of the tip of your toungue.
