Vertebrate paleontology, especially
(1) the Paleocene-Eocene thermal maximum (PETM), Paleocene-Eocene evolutionary transition,
and origin of modern orders of mammals;
(2) origin and early evolution of whales;
(3) origin and early evolution of primates; and
(4) quantitative approaches to paleobiology and evolution, including rates of evolution on the time scale of the evolutionary process.
