Meissen is the home of the world famous ‘’Dresden China.’’ Centuries ago,
Augustus the Strong imprisoned the alchemist Johann Friedrich Böttger and
told him to create gold. Böttger took artistic license with this command
and invented the first true European porcelain. Royal families across
Europe would buy Meissen porcelain as heirlooms.
This building had an advent calendar and the city crest.
The Meissen factory, where to this day the porcelain is made and painted
by hand.
This spread is worth a king’s ransom. We expected a nice tea set to cost
around $150, but a service for 6 ranged from $6000 to over $8000.
