Travelling to Nova Scotia

What a day for an adventure!

After crossing into Canada, we took a little ferry. The ramp also serves as the “bumper brake” of the ship, as we reached the other side, the ramp lowered and slammed into the concrete ramp on the land!

We reached Nova Scotia and stopped overnight in the nice little town of Antigonish. We stayed at ST FX (St. Francis Xavier University), which we learned was the top ranked liberal arts college in Canada. The school also has a reputation as a party school. The quaint little downtown area had a number of shops and a 1960s era Chinese Restaurant (even the items on the menu were vintage). There only appeared to be a couple of bars, so the students must do much of their partying at home.

This being New Scotland, why not spruce up your wardrobe with a kilt?

A wooden man tosses the wood. Taber tossing and other Scottish sports are featured at the annual Highland Games held here.
