Through the Highlands

We drove through the Western Trossachs, it is so beautiful that you want to stop and take a picture every five minutes, only to realize that you just did.

Hmm, I think I have seen this view before.

The weather was quite variable, it can be cloudy, rainy, cold, cool, and nice and sunny all in the same day. Here are some ominous clouds.

The Dalwhinnie Distillery, the highest in Scotland.

We picked up some of their single malt, it actually smelled quite drinkable.

Just an hour later, it started clearing up.

Blair Castle, a classic Scottish castle still owned by the local nobility. They seem to make most of their money off of the constant tourist traffic. Every room is chock full of historic furniture and artifacts, some of the walls are covered with swords and suits of armor, no doubt kept ready for use by the Castle’s own private army.

Eilean Donan Castle, the iconic Castle featured in Highlander. On Scottish public radio, there was a satirical piece about a bumbling substitute elementary school teacher and his fumbling attempts to impress other people and watch Highlander on TV. The show was actually quite racy with lots of innuendos, it was also interesting to hear a Scotsman do a bad Sean Connery impression.
