A Little Good Can Go a Long Way

My grandfather used to say that without our health we have nothing. I had always thought that this was a rather false statement but there may be some legitimacy to the thought. I saw two very strong women at very low points upon experiencing both my grandmother and mother battle, and eventually defeat, cancer. It was way more than just a physical battle for them; it also took a toll on the minds and hearts of those around them, including mine. It wasn't until after their illnesses that I started to get involved in helping raise money for cancer research in the form of donations and walks, but I wish I had gotten involved much earlier. Cancer affects so many people and will only continue to do so until the medical world finds a solution.
So, don't be like me and wait around until cancer is staring you in the face to react. Cancer Awareness Week at the University, put on by the students of the Cancer Awareness Week group, is coming up soon. The festivities arrive the 2nd week in March. It is the perfect chance to get involved; activities include, battle of the bands, bar night, dance competition, fashion show, and more. These all take place here on campus and provide a chance for students to donate to charities and/or just show up to support cancer awareness in enjoyable ways. Show up, have a great time, and do a little good.
