The Lehnert Group, July 2024

Postdoctoral Fellows

Dr. Benedict Elvers

2018 - 2022
Ph.D. at the University of Greifswald, Germany
with Prof. Carola Schulzke

2022 - 2023
Postdoc at the University of Greifswald, Germany
with Prof. Mihaela Delcea and Prof. Carola Schulzke

Jan. 2024 - present
Postdoctoral Fellow in the Lehnert group
Research Project
Synthesis, Spectroscopic and Theoretical Studies on High-Valent Metal-Oxo Complexes
New ligand scaffolds will be developed to generate high-valent transition metal-oxo complexes in trigonal ligand fields. These complexes will then be studied using a pletora of spectroscopic and theoretical methods to determine their geometric and electronic structures.

Dr. Elizabeth Manickas

2019 - 2024
Ph.D. at the University of Michigan
with Prof. Nicolai Lehnert

July 2024 - present
Postdoctoral Fellow in the Meyerhoff and Lehnert groups
Research Project
Development of NO-Releasing Catheters and New Approached for NO Generation for NO Inhalation Therapy
New materials and enzyme coatings will be used to develop NO-releasing catheters that function in the presence of dioxygen. In addition, new instrumentation for advanced NO inhalation therapy will be developed. This technology is based on our electrochemical NO generation (E-NOgen) method that was previously invented in the Meyerhoff laboratory.

Dr. Nabhendu Pal

2014 - 2020
Ph.D. at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata, India
with Prof. Amit Majumdar

2021 - 2024
Postdoc at the University of Minnesota
with Prof. Larry Que, Jr.

July 2024 - present
Postdoctoral Fellow in the Lehnert group
Research Project
Synthesis, Spectrosocpic and Electrochemical Studies on Copper Complexes for Nitrite Reduction
New ligand scaffolds will be developed to create copper complexes that are capable of electrochemical nitrite reduction in the presence of dioxygen. This goal will be accomplished by both redox-tuning of the complexes and the application of second coordination sphere effects.
