Yijun Gui

President

Yijun is a Ph.D. candidate of the MCDB Department in the University of Michigan. Before attending graduate school at the University of Michigan, she obtained her B.S. degree in biology at Nanjing University in China. Her current research focuses on the neuronal basis of eating behavior and metabolic diseases. Besides research, her interests include backpacking and cooking.

Meixin ('Mei') Yuan

President

Mei is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Michigan. Her research leverages urban analytics and information technologies to understand urban dynamics and promote healthy, equitable cities through innovative planning practices. Supported by the Rackham Pre-doctoral Fellowship, Mei’s dissertation focuses on advancing health equity in Southeast Michigan through quantitative big data analysis and collaborative research with local practitioners. As a dedicated Wolverine, Mei holds a Master of Science in Information (’22) and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning (’20) from the University of Michigan. She is passionate about uncovering trends through big data and creating interactive visualizations with maps. In her free time, Mei enjoys developing interactive visualization and web tools to share scholarly knowledge with practitioners and the public. She also loves crafting and painting.

Yanmeng Liu

Vice President of Operations

Yanmeng is a Ph.D. candidate in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Michigan. With a solid background in chemical engineering from New York University, she is passionate about advancing biotechnology using engineering principles. Her current research focuses on understanding and developing microbial systems to make bioproducts from renewable sources. Beyond the lab, she enjoys tango dancing, exploring new baking recipes, and occasionally hiking in national parks.
