

MARY SIMONI
Mary Simoni is a composer, pianist, author, and consultant, and Professor Emerita of Performing Arts Technology at the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor. Her music and multimedia works have been performed internationally and released by Centaur Records, the Leonardo Music Journal (MIT Press), and the International Computer Music Association. She has been honored with the Prize in Composition by the ArtNET Virtual Museum, named a semi-finalist for the American Prize in Composition (Chamber Music), and frequently recognized by Vox Novus. A Steinway Artist, Simoni is acclaimed for her performances that integrate interactive electronics with piano.
She is also the author of Algorithmic Composition: A Guide to Composing Music with Nyquist (co-authored with Roger Dannenberg and published by the University of Michigan) and Analytical Methods of Electroacoustic Music (Routledge). Her interdisciplinary research in digital music information retrieval earned her recognition as a Medal Laureate of the Computer World Honors Award.
