Java Videos of Simulations of Vortex Motion in Superconductors
The videos show computer-simulated "top views"
(views from above the sample, or "bird's views")
of magnetic field lines penetrating superconductors,
when the external magnetic field is slowly ramped up.
The motion of penetrating magnetic field lines
in superconductors can exhibit "stick-slip" type
motion and collective "jamming" that resembles
transport in other systems (e.g., grains of
sand, colloids, dielectric breakdown).
(NOTE: Netscape 3.0 or higher is required to view these Java
videos.)
