Juile Doucet Julie Doucet is originally a Canadian born comic artist. She currently resides in Berlin, Germany where she continues to write and illustrates stories based on female experiences. Her most well-known work is Dirty Plotte (plotte meaning “cunt” in French), a work that began as a Xeroxed mini-comic and was later published by Drawn and Quarterly and expanded into a twelve issue series. In this autobiographical series the reader follows a lead character that behaves in ways that many female comic book characters never have before, as grotesquely messy, bloody, drunk, human characters. Her heavily inked artwork and cramped panels make her style instantly recognizable and add a crude, emotional sense to her overall compositions. Julie’s stories remained honest and compassionate and reflect many true experiences from her life. |
