Michel Rabagliati Born in 1961 in Montreal, Canada, Michel Rabagliati grew up on Belgian and French comics rather than their American counterparts. While he drew comics as a youth, emulating favorites like Tintin, Spirou, Gaston, and Asterix, Rabagliati ended up studying graphic design and typography, becoming a graphic designer and commercial illustrator in 1982. It wasn’t until the 90s that he returned to the world of comics . Asked to design a logo for Canadian comics publisher Drawn & Quarterly, home to artists like Adrian Tomine, Joe Sacco, and Chris Ware, Rabagliati rekindled his interest in the medium. In 1999, he made his reentrance into the world of illustrated panels with Paul à la Campagne. |
