Savannah, Georgia
Founded by James Oglethorpe in 1733 it was the capital of the thirteenth English colony in North America. It is America's first planned city with wide streets and 24 original squares of which 21 still exist. The low country was perfect for cultivation and cotton and rice plantations flourishing in the early 19th century. With a strong economy, residents built lavish homes and churches; many still stand today. The city abounds in history, historic homes, great restaurants and fun shopping. If you want to see the "Old-South" don't miss this charming belle of a city. It is less than a 40 minute drive from Barrington Arms.
