Sealing Caries: Changing paradigms from a Cariology Perspective

Thursday, March 22, 2012: 12:15 p.m.-1:30 p.m.
Session Type: Lunch and Learning
1.25 CE hours

Sponsored by: Dental Materials
Description: There is strong evidence for the effectiveness of sealants in caries prevention and arrest. However, a perceived barrier to sealant utilization is the concern of sealing over caries lesion.  Evidence for “sealing over caries” will be reviewed in the context of clinical research and practice.
Learning Objectives:
Challenges for implementing these evidence based recommendations in practice
Evidence supporting existing recommendations to seal non cavitated lesions
Research opportunities to enhance non invasive management of non cavitated lesions
