One of the most effective ways we can be rooted in Christ is to immerse ourselves in his word. When you read and study Scripture, remember that it is a lifeline with the Lord.

General Bible Reading Plans
by Heidi Fenton

I was very impressed by this first site--especially if you've never really read
the
Bible before, this is a *great* place to start:
http://www.wwco.com/~pvk/
It contains three different tracks, each of which involves reading about a
chapter a
day. The first track serves as a six-week foundation for reading the
Bible: Two weeks
each on "The Life and Teaching of Jesus," "The Life and Teachings
of Paul," and "The
Old Testament." Additional two-week tracks a variety of topics
are provided. The
second track dives into every book of the Bible (not including
Catholic/Orthodox books)
over the course of 180 days as a general overview of the Bible--only a part of
each
book is read. Finally, in the third track you read the entire
(Protestant) Bible in a
three-year plan that alternates between the Old and New Testament. This
would also be
a great page to refer to as a resource for group Bible studies.
If you really want to read the Bible in one year, check out these plans:

Second, in alphabetical order, here are some LECTIONARY resources--sites that
are based
directly on a certain church denomination's plan of readings that vary
according to the
season of the church year--these will most likely not cover every word in the
Bible
(*definitely* not in one year--most are based on a 2- or 3-year cycle):
~The Book of Common Prayer~
http://www.cresourcei.org/epiphany2.html
This is a link to a daily lectionary based on the "Book of Common
Prayer" used in the
Episcopal and Anglican churches. Several other Protestant churches use
lectionaries
based on the "Book of Common Prayer" (though their church calendars
may differ
somewhat), and it is probably the best-known daily lectionary in print.
Note that when
you get to February 12, you have to go down to the link at the bottom of the
page for
"Readings for Lent 2."
~Lutheran~
http://worship.lcms.org/LHP/dailylect.htm
This daily lectionary for the Lutheran church is a
work in progress. A schedule of
daily readings is included in the Lutheran Book of Worship, but I cannot find
it
online. After clicking on the link, you'll have to scroll down the page.
January is
toward the bottom. When you get to February 13 (Ash Wednesday), instead
of continuing
with the calendar readings, go up to the top of the lectionary to the Ash
Wednesday and
Lenten readings.
~Orthodox~
http://dynamis.cjb.net/
To get a printable list of the month's readings, click
on the month, and then, on the
month's page, click on Index. In addition to the readings, it notes
commemorations and
Fast and Strict Fast days.
~Presbyterian~
http://horeb.pcusa.org/search/dailyreadings.htm
http://www.natpresch.org/DailyReadings.shtml
The first link provides the daily lectionary for the
Presbyterian Church (USA).
Clicking on the "Daily Lectionary" link on this site will give you
the day's readings
in full, but it does not provide a way to print out a calendar of readings.
The second link provides a three-week list of readings which are (apparently)
the same
as those on the first site *except* for the Psalm, which is different.
~Roman Catholic~
http://www.themass.org/calendar.htm
http://www.catholicity.com/cathedral/readings.html
http://www.ewtn.com/Devotionals/inspiration.htm
http://www.emmausjourney.org/resource/lectionary/index.htm
The first link provides the a calendar of the month's readings based on the
Lectionary
for Mass.
The second link provides the day's readings from the Liturgy of the Hours (but
no
calendar or list is available). To understand what this is, check out
http://liturgyny.catholic.org/lithours.htm
and
http://www.universalis.com/cgi-bin/display/office.htm
The third link provides two weeks of current readings based on the Lectionary
for Mass,
accompanied by brief excerpts by Catholic saints and pontiffs.
The fourth provides a link to download a partial lectionary in list form.
