Cliff Keen Arena
Built in 1956, Cliff Keen Arena houses several U-M
Women's Gymnastics home meets throughout the season.
This facility holds 1,800 fans and was originally constructed
as a state-of-the-art building used primarily by the
Michigan swim team.
The Matt Mann Pool, a 75x45 foot pool used by the highly
ranked Michigan swim teams, was housed in Cliff Keen
Arena, until the opening of the Canham Natatorium in
1988. Since then, this facility has been adapted for
other uses, allowing space for two practice and one
match court for Michigan volleyball teams in addition
to floor space for wrestling and gymnastics home meets.
On Nov. 15, 1990, the building was dedicated to and
renamed after long-time Michigan wrestling coach Cliff
Keen.
Cliff Keen Arena received improvements in the summer
of 2002, including an expansion and renovation of the
volleyball locker room. The locker room is outfitted
with the latest in digital video filming and editing
equipment. Volleyball also received a team room that
gives the squad a place to call its own and includes
a large study area.
Cliff Keen Arena is located on the corner of South
State and Hoover streets on the north end of the athletic
campus. It is easily accessible from I-94 at the State
Street exit (#177) and can also be reached off the Ann
Arbor-Saline exit (#175) or Jackson Road exit (#172).
