Ed is honored to be a part of the Victors soccer program and enjoys the community and sense of belonging that it provides to the women who play for the teams. He believes that while success on the field is one of the goals, the most important goal is to use the game of soccer to build relationships and learn about ourselves.
Coaching
Ed has been the Victors Head Coach since Fall of 2018. Prior to Victors, Ed coached Washtnaw Community College Women's soccer team (4 years), University of Michigan Club Women's Soccer Team (4 years), and Vardar Ann Arbor (2 years). He also has High School coaching experience as a head coach at Ypsilanti High School (4 years) and as an assistant coach at East Kentwood High School (2 years) and Hornel High School NY (1 year).
Playing
Ed played collegiate soccer at NCAA Division III Hope College from 2000-03. He was NCAA All-Region for 3 years and in 2003, he was named as a NCAA All American. Prior to Hope College, Ed was a 4 year Varsity player, All-State selection for Portage Northern High School, and played for a number of clubs including Kalamazoo TKO and Great Lakes River Rats.

Becky Schuba - Assistant Coach
Becky is so excited to again be a part of a women’s club program that competes in a high level and a community that is passionate about the game of soccer. She gained most of her closest friends during her time playing on UMWSC, and hopes to help the women of VFC foster the same relationships during her time as assistant coach.
Coaching
Becky is going into her 3rd year as the assistant coach for VFC. The
Victors is her first official experience coaching. She is very knowledgeable about
defensive positioning, strategy and training.
Playing
Prior to Victors, Becky played on the University of Michigan Women’s Club Soccer team from 2011- 2015, elected to the NIRSA Open Division All-Tournament team in 2015. She was a 4-year Varsity player and 2 year co-captain at Northside College Prep in Chicago, IL, receiving numerous academic and athletic accolades during her high school career. She additionally played on multiple club teams including FC United and the Lakeshore Soccer Club.
Mehdi Mayou - Blue Team Coach
Mehdi has always believed that good defense is the best offense, which is why he asks his team to build high pressure plays to win the ball, create quick transitions, and execute counterattacks. He is intentional about planning practices and taking care of every detail to develop players’ skills and motivate them for strong competition. As a coach, he believes that fundamentals along with advanced technical and tactical skills are critical, but he also cares about being a part of players’ growth as individuals. He focuses on inspiring and supporting their individual growth and character development. He respects players’ academic, career, and family lives by supporting their dedication to their academic and athletic development and performance.
Coaching
This is Mehdi’s first year coaching the Victors Blue team. Prior to Victors, he coached and served the local soccer community in Rabat, Morocco in various capacities for the last 7 years. He coached a team of 15-year-old players in the development of soccer skills, tactics, fitness levels, and teamwork. He focused on developing training plans for each player based on their individual needs to improve performance. Moreover, he has experience designing comprehensive and effective game plans, implementing helpful drills and implementing physical conditioning programs. Mehdi has also worked as a lead soccer camp counselor for 4 years.
Playing
Mehdi played soccer throughout his whole school career. He played soccer for his hometown soccer team between 1999-2010. He also played high school soccer and two years of collegiate soccer at the University of Mohammed V Rabat in Morocco. Mehdi was awarded top defender of the year two times in high school and was team captain in college.
