OCCUPATION OF R ------------------------------------------------------------------- USE WEIGHT VARIABLE VCF0009/VCF0009A/VCF0009B. The purpose of this variable is to incorporate maximum occupational data, which may be for past OR present employment. The difference between the data in VCF0115 [which remains unchanged] and data in VCF0151 [new var] is that VCF0151 also includes some occupation data excluded from VCF0115. The occupation data present in VCF0151 but absent from VCF0115 are for Rs considered "students" and "housewives"-- either nonworking (past employment) or presently working some hours (1966-1970: any number of hours; 1972 and later: less than 20 hours per week). Occupational data corresponding to such respondents was not present at all in 1952,1956,1958,1960,1964 studies, for which VCF0115 and VCF0151 are identical.
