Pitbull
Born in Miami to first generation immigrants, Pitbull has instilled his Cuban culture within his music. His rhymes first came from the memorization of poems by Cuban poet Jose Mart. Although a talented rapper, Pitbull owes part of his fame to the Diaz Brothers as they helped him become the famous rapper that he is today. Pitbull’s music incorporates hip-hop, traditional music such as samba and bomba and lyrics of Spanish and English. His songs are usually fast paced and have become very popular in night clubs and dance parties. As a fairly recent artist, Pitbull has already made his claim to fame and has continued this path with the recent release of his album, El Mariel, which debuted at number one on the Billboard’s Top Independent chart and number two on the Billboard Rap Albums Chart. The album is further promoted by “Dime”, which is the number one single on the Latin Urban Charts and “Ay Chico” which is likely to break the Top 20 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Top 40 (39). Besides selling thousands of CD’s, Pitbull has also worked with many well known hip-hop artists such as: Wyclef Jean, Lil Jon, Fat Joe, Trick Daddy and Pharrel Williams (40). |
