Discipleship

Followers of Christ strive to grow in the knowledge of and faith in Jesus our Lord. As InterVarsity, we train students in leadership for the Body of Christ!

What results is a vision of our fellowship forming a unified way of viewing the world (Eph 4:1-16) that is based on the Gospel, distinct from the patterns of society (Eph 4:17-32) . In particular, we see our members being personally and interpersonally discipled by older Christians who can help students follow Jesus in every part of their lives (e.g. spiritual walk, relationships, school and career, parents, multi-ethnicity, etc.)!

In a discipleship relationship, an older Christian meets with one or two younger students on a regular basis (e.g. weekly or biweekly). The content in meetings may vary (reading a book together, studying the Bible, etc.), but the overall goal is for our chapter to grow together in our living in obedience to God's Word. It's also a great way for younger and older Christians to grow closer together as friends!

What this means for you is that you have an opportunity to form relationships within AIVCF that will be fruitful for our fellowship's spiritual growth. If you want to join AIVCF in building a Kingdom-minded community by entering into a discipleship relationship or if you have any questions, email Jon (jonchen).
