Purpose
The Epsilon Chapter Memorial Program
The purpose of the Epsilon Chapter Memorial Program is to honor the life, memory, and legacy of
deceased Brothers and to support the recruitment, retention, and matriculation of future Alpha men
through the creation of a permanently named fund that will award scholarships in perpetuity.
In memory of a loving son, dear brother, and eternal friend, members and initiates of the Epsilon
Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and the Hall Family have created the Pascal J. Hall
Memorial Scholarship Fund as a member of the Epsilon Memorial Fund.
Organization
The fund has been organized through the University of Michigan Alumni Association, a 501(c3)
organization; therefore, all gifts to the fund are tax‐deductible to the fullest extent under the law.
Management
Epsilon Chapter Memorial Program Management
The scholarship committee long will consist of: chapter president, chapter advisor, EAC
representative, and three other alumni chapter initiates.
Pascal J. hall Memorial Scholarship Fund Management
While we actively seek the support and counsel of all brothers, friends and family members, Ms.
Jeannine Hall (mother), Michael Johnson (friend), Darrell Joyce (line brother), Brandon Littlejohn
(chapter president), and Darnell Ishmel (fraternity brother) constitute the core of our establishment
committee for the Pascal J. Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Awards
The Epsilon Chapter Memorial Fund will provide scholarship support to:
(1) initiated members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor,
MI., and
(2) a high school senior accepted to the University of Michigan or a currently enrolled
underclassman at the University of Michigan.
Scholarships will be awarded each year at an annual Epsilon Brotherhood luncheon to be held in the fall,
one for the Fraternity member(s), and another to any eligible high school (or college) student. The
number of scholarships and their amounts may vary from year to year but will range from $500‐$2,500.
Award amounts can be adjusted by the scholarship committee as needed. Awards can be used toward
tuition, housing, books, university fees, convention attendance, or approved chapter programming.
Chapter brothers may apply individually, jointly, or corporately.
Scholarship recipients will be chosen by a scholarship committee through their established process. The
Director of the Office of Financial Aid shall be responsible for carrying out the intended purpose of the
Fund.
Criterion
The selection process for all awards will include a written application. In honor of Pascal, the scholarship
committee will place emphasis on applicants that demonstrate excellence and aptitude in the following
areas:
1. scholastic achievement
2. high moral character
3. brotherly love
4. personal progress
5. respect of womanhood
6. physical discipline
7. need‐base assistance in the pursuit of higher education
Establishment
Our goal is to raise $10K by February 10, 2010 order to fully establish the fund through the university.
We will accept gifts and pledges over the course of 3 years or until such time as the fund reach $50K at
which time, the fund will be fully endowed. As an endowed scholarship distributions from the Fund will
be made in accordance with the University’s then existing endowment distribution policy.
With the gracious support of family, friends, and fraternity brothers, we aim to grow the Fund to enable
us to offer additional awards.
