A great number of people need our help. Luke, Cayt, and Rebecca are unaccounted for. Bleys has been turned into a statue. Fiona is just barely detectable by Trump. Random waits in the dungeons for his execution. And of course Dworkin needs us to save the universe and put things right.

Let's begin with Bleys. While investigating Ygg, Locke discovered a stone figure. It looked like Bleys, but I could not detect anything at that location. My magic went wild. I was able to get some effects, but they were clumsy and random. It would be interesting to duplicate whatever field was causing this. It may prove to be a great advantage again those reliant on spells. I trumped Aurthur and Locke and I took the statue through to Aurthur's castle. He was having his portrait done, so we asked to use a room to store the statue. He agreed. My magic had returned to normal and I was able to use Visions from the Posterior of the Mind to learn what had occurred. Bleys had been fighting two opponents. One attacked him with magic and the other by conventional means. I could not detect their identities because of the presence and use of Logrus. It had been that very Logrus which had sealed Bleys in his current state. I felt the condition was reversible, but it would be likely necessary to use Logrus powers of some sort. Since Merlin's powers were not operating I would have to hope we could contact Mandor.

If Ygg had been attacked and Bleys defeated then what happened to Fiona and Rebecca? I made a small attempt at dinner to find out where Rebecca was from Julian. I asked him who was guarding Arden. He said his rangers were attending to the task. This leads me to believe Rebecca was not there. If not at Ygg, and not at Castle Amber, then where was she? There were too many simple answers. My real interest is in what happened to Fiona. When I trumped her there was the faintest cooling. She was out there some place. Walking the Pattern to her would be too dangerous in the Pattern's current state and Connie suggested that riding through Arden was probably a bad idea. Perhaps we should hellride to her from outside Amber. Fiona is, in my mind, the key to the Ygg situation. Is it not her symbol at the center of Ygg on Dworkin's etching?

The mystery of various others Amberites including Luke and Cayt is a little deeper. We know nothing about their location or status other than that they are not contactable by Trump. I can only hope they are among the few Dworkin was able to "seal away". Then again it's possible that what Dworkin meant by "sealed away" was that they had been turned to stone as Bleys had. After all I wouldn't be surprised if Dworkin was able to use Logrus. Still, this is only a wild guess.

Random's situation was much more serious. Gerard and his group planned to have Random executed very soon. I do not relish the idea of having to wrench Random from the likes of Gerard, Julian, Caine, and Llewella. Llewella had almost surely placed wards on Random's cell. It would be fool hardy for us to walk into the same trap we had in Corwin's Amber, but we could not simply sit by and watch Random lose his head. We might have to resort to deceit and treachery to gain Random's freedom... and then what?

I, for one, am in no peril at all. I have spent the night, undisturbed, in Flora's arms.
