Session 8
The investigation into Merlin's murder continues. There is much talk and little
action. (And nearly 20 scenes!)

Gerard answers questions about Frakir. He explain that it is a bracelet
always worn by Merlin. He says the the bracelet is sentient. After the
explaination Gerard backtrack along Merlin's path to attempt to locate
Frakir.
The group decides to question Mandor.

Scene 2 - Cornell / Ygg |
| |
Connie remembers a painting assignment which is due in his home shadow.
He trumps off and paints a picture/trump sketch of Ygg, which leads to
high comedy.
Julie's log
details the entire incident.
A page passes a not from Renaldo to Simon, who reads it, but does not
reveal what it is about. Quinn get the location of Mandor's room from
various workers about the castle. Some time is spent dealing with Mandor's
personal guard before he receives the Amberites. Mandor serves wine and begins
getting up to speed by casually questioning each of the Amberite in turn.
When he is told of Frakir's absense he sends a small ball bearing out to
search the castle. Mandor reveals that he is Merlin's step brother and that
he created Frakir. He also gives the Amberites a few more suspects including
Merlin's younger brother Jert, and unnamed friends of Korvan. Simon asks Mandor
to find out who is behind the attacks on Simon's home shadow.

Bill Roth approaches Jessica and Quinn with official documents.

|
Locke finds Gilva's room and discusses the current state of political
relations between Chaos and Amber. She tells him that the situation
at Thelbane in dire and that Chaos is preparing for war.
Locke finds out that Gilva was not aware that Frakir was not on Merlin's
body when he was found.

Jessica Trumps Benedict. She examines Benedict's troops and can find no
flaw in his defense of the castle.

Quinn Trumps Corwin. The war against Brandon has taken an unfortunate turn.

Simon goes up to Corwin's room to find out why Renaldo want to speak with
him. Renaldo reveals that he suspects that Jasra is related to Simon. This
is based on a resemblance between their eyes.

Scene 9 - Ygg |

Connie waits for Fiona to get a break from treating Ygg. He tells her all
about his theories about the dreamline, Ygg being just a distraction,
and Jade's use of Trump in attacking Random.

Scene 10 - Castle Amber |

|
Gilva shows Locke the original treaty drawn up between Chaos and Amber.
The document is very vague. Locke asks Gilva where the hostilities between
Chaos and Amber originated. Gilva explains that before Amber existed
everything was Chaos, and the the old timers would like to see a return to
those days. In addition she points out that most people in Chaos are trained
from birth to dislike or even hate Amber.
Locke kisses Gilva's hand as he leaves and retires to reading about Patternfall.

Quinn pokes around in Merlin's room and then retires to reading the book
Dworkin gave her. She is later visitte by Ghostwheel who says Frakir is
in Castle Amber.

Scene 12 - Ygg |
|
|
Connie Trumps Simon to Ygg. They try to Trump Sand, but Sand drops
contact when Connie mentions Brand. Connie and Simon go to Amber
on their way to Tirnanog.
Simon is Trumped by Jessica who joins them near the stairs of Tirnanog.
Simon pulls Jessica aside and asks her to replace Random's guards with her
own. He says he has reason to believe one of the guards is a spy, but reveals
no more. Jessica reluctantly agrees. Connie and Jessica journey up to
Tirnanog while Simon keep watch at the stairs. In Tirnanog Connie and Jessica
run into Brand who lets them have the key to the gates saying that this was
as far as he ever got. Brand also quotes Rush. On the drawbridge they meet up
with Renaldo and Dierdre who are sword fighting playfully. Inside the castle
they witness Jade sleping on Eric's lap as well as Quinn and Random having sex in the
throne room near Merlin's dead body. Simon Trumps them just before daybreak.

Locke talks to Random at breakfast about Frakir, Chaos, and Dara. Locke
suggest that they find some crook in Chaos and pin the murder on that person
in order to force Dara to cease hostilities. Random likes the idea.
Later Locke is Trumped by Martin who has set up a meeting with Rico in Futureworld.

Martin jacks a personality chip before visiting Rico. Locke asks what Rico wants
in return for use of the cryo chamber. Rico wants a single man doomsday weapon
the he can use to wipe out the other Bosses. Locke agrees. Martin and Locke
hellride off on motorcycles to find a G.E.V. for Rico.

Simon Trumps to Bleys. He asks if Bleys can draw a Trump of Frakir.
Bleys suggests he ask Mandor. Simon questions Bleys about forging a
Trump to make it look like someone else drew it. Bleys is confident
that he could pull it off.

Quinn is awakened by Ghostwheel who rushes off to walk Corwin's pattern.
