Future-U
This program
offers opportunities for middle school-aged students from communities
outside of Ann Arbor to visit UM’s campus and gain exposure to a
variety of academic disciplines. Programmatic goals are aimed at
motivating student participants to pursue higher education and start
thinking about college at an early age. Students participate in several
weekend visits to campus where they are able to experience collegiate
life, including listening to presentations from UM faculty.

This program
works with students within the Ann Arbor public high schools and is
designed to encourage them to take challenging courses in preparation
for admission to selective colleges after high school. A key goal of
this program is to close the achievement gap with students from
underrepresented groups by supporting their higher achievement in high
school. Students attend annual weeklong seminar series on UM’s campus
in which faculty give presentations on their various academic
disciplines and areas of research interests.
