This article explains explorations into the synthesis of dimeric pyrrole imidazole natural products, including sceptrin, ageliferin, nagelamide E, nakamuric acid, and oxysceptrin. The described reactions were designed to limit the use of protecting groups so the innate reactivity of these bioactive alkaloids could be better understood.
