You are in luck, customer, because I am just the bookseller
you want to chat with. Eighteenth-Century English history likes
to call me the "first eminent publisher."1
I made my name by publishing and selling the works of famous folks
like the two "Johns," Dryden and Milton, William Shakespeare,
and Alexander Pope. Not only did I introduce great literature
to many people by selling a great deal of books, but I also acquired
a great deal of money in the process. Even though I died in 1736,
I've kept tabs on the eighteenth-century book business from beyond
the grave. So, let's have a little chat, friend! What would you
like to talk about?
