James McDivitt was the commander of Gemini 4 and part of Apollo 9, which was the first test of the Lunar Module and portable space-suit.
James Irwin was the Apollo 15 Lunar Module pilot. All of the crew of Apollo 15 were from the University of Michigan.
David Scott was the commander of Apollo 15. He and Irwin landed the Lunar Module on the moon.
Alfred Worden was the Command Module pilot of Apollo 15. During that mission, he completed the first spacewalk outside of Earth orbit.
Jack Lousma graduated from U of M�s Aerospace Engineering in 1959. He spent two months in space aboard Skylab II and was the commander of the third space shuttle flight in 1982.
Anthony England flew aboard Challenger STS 51F in 1985. He is currently a professor in Electrical Engineering at U of M.
Karl
Henize worked in the University of Michigan Observatory from
1948 to 1951. He was a misison specialist for the second Spacelab
flight in 1985.
