Reserves
Putting
Material on Reserve
The
Circulation Department places material on reserve for your courses
each semester.
To
place materials on reserve: contact Bobbie Snow (763-3767;
barbsnow@umich.edu.
You may also send requests to Bobbie Snow via Law School
mail.
Course Reserve forms are available at the Circulation Desk or online
(pdf).
Open Reserves

Unless designated as appropriate for closed reserves, the following
materials will be placed on Open Reserves:

Law Library
books; shelved by call number
�
Photocopies; shelved
in hanging files by a library-assigned reserve number
Staff
intervention is not necessary to obtain open reserve material.
Students may freely use items on open reserves in the reserve
area. Copy machines are
in the enclosed area. Items
in the Open Reserve area can be checked out of the Open Reserve area
for 4 hours, 2 hours during exam periods.
Closed Reserves
- The following materials will always be placed on Closed Reserves:

All private copies
of books
�
Any software
�
Any video tapes
�
A specific Law
Library book or photocopy designated by faculty or library staff as
appropriate for closed reserves

West nutshell series
If an item is
on closed reserve a student must come to the Circulation Desk and
show ID in order to check the item out. Check
out time is limited to 4 hours, 2 hours during exam periods.
Sometimes library staff will remove a book from open reserves and place
it on closed reserves if demand warrants such a change.
A faculty member may call and request that a book be switched
from open to closed reserves.
