Research Service FAQ
-
How
much of my research can the Service handle?
The Faculty Research Service is a shared service designed
to assist professors who do not have enough research to warrant
hiring their own research assistant, and to handle research that
requires the skills of an experienced researcher with a law
degree, i.e., a reference librarian.
This means that if you have a large amount of research,
or very lengthy projects that will take more time and resources
than the service has available, you may need to hire your own
research assistant to handle some of your research, rather than
relying exclusively on the Faculty Research Service.
The Faculty Services Librarian will let you know if the
amount of research you need exceeds the resources of the
service.
-
Can
the Service handle RUSH requests?
The Faculty Research Service provides service to all
teaching law faculty, and must prioritize and manage multiple
projects in order to meet deadlines.
This means that our ability to handle rush research
requests is limited by other requests already in our workflow.
The Faculty Services Librarian will let you know whether
or not we can meet your accelerated deadline.
-
How can my research assistant get help with
research? The
reference librarians are available to show your research
assistant how to perform the research youve assigned.
Your research assistant may contact the reference
librarians by phone, email or in person to arrange a training
session or research consultation.
