Lexis & Westlaw

To find primary and secondary sources of law for the U.S. and some international and foreign jurisdictions in electronic form, use Lexis and Westlaw via the web, or use the software installed on your computer.  A faculty password is required.

Library Collections

The Law Library and other University of Michigan campus libraries provide access to book and microform research collections, as well as electronic resources.  Access to collections is provided through the online catalogs of each of the three University of Michigan libraries.

Online Catalogs

To find books, microforms and electronic resources on campus, use the three University of Michigan online catalogs:

  • Lexcalibur (Law Library)

  • Mirlyn (University Library System)

  • Mentor (Kresge Business Administration Library) 

Links to each of the online catalogs are available from the Law Library and other campus library web pages.

Web Pages and Electronic Resources

The libraries on the University of Michigan campus provide a wide variety of electronic resources, from full text journals to indexes and other finding aids.  These resources may be found by searching the online catalogs of the three University of Michigan library systems listed above, and by using the links to resources available from the web pages of each library:

Current Awareness Services

 

Current Index to Legal Periodicals (CILP)

This weekly email service provides topical access to approximately 500 law reviews and legal journals, and full tables of contents of all journals indexed.

 

To sign up for CILP, contact Diane Fichter by email (dfichter@umich.edu) and ask her to add you to the CILP email group.

SmartCILP

  This customized version of CILP provides weekly email delivery of portions of CILP focusing on the subjects and journals you select.  Sign up for SmartCILP and set your user profile on the web at:

Select �Create or change a SmartCILP profile� and fill in the on-line user profile form.  Please contact the Barb Garavaglia (764-9338; bvaccaro@umich.edu) for the authorization code.  You may change your profile at any time on the web by filling out the web form again.

Social Sciences Resource Network (SSRN)

The Law Library, the Kresge Business Library and the University Library system jointly provide campus-wide access to all SSRN services, including the Legal Scholarship Network (LSN), the Economics Research Network (ERN) and the Financial Economics Network (FEN).
