How to Obtain Books by Location (pdf)

Searches & Recalls

If a book is not on the shelves and not checked out, a search may be submitted at the Circulation Desk.  Searches are done daily, Monday through Friday.  A search placed by 11 a.m. on a weekday will be ready by 5 p.m. of the same day.  To find the answers to your search, inquire at the Circulation Desk.  You may also inquire by telephone; call 764-4252.

A due date in the Lexcalibur record indicates a book is checked-out to an office or carrel.  In that instance, you may submit a request to recall the book.  Recalls are done daily, Monday through Friday.  Recalls submitted by 11 a.m. on a weekday will be ready by 5 p.m. of the same day.

For more information on searches and recalls, see "If the book you want is not on the shelves" (pdf).

Closed Stacks Paging

If the call number locator indicates that a book is in an area not open to the public, you may submit a paging request at the Circulation Desk on Sub-2.  Books are paged once per day, Monday through Friday only.  Requests for a moderate number of books, submitted by 11 am on a weekday will be ready by 5 p.m. of the same day.  It may take more than one day to retrieve a large number of books.

Request to Page a Book from a Closed Stacks Area Form (pdf)

This form can be printed off and brought to the Circulation Desk.  Please use a separate form for each title submitted for paging.

Materials on Reserve

Professors frequently put material for their classed on reserve, located in the Sub-2 Core.  Reserve materials can be searched in Lexcalibur by the professor's name or the name or number of the course.

For more information, see “Using Lexcalibur to Locate Reserves” (pdf).
