So, you've decided you can come to the wedding - now how do you get here? It's not hard, pick the way that works best for you - Planes, Trains or Automobiles!

By Plane

Ann Arbor is located about 20 miles from Detroit Metropolitan Airport, aka Detroit Metro. All of the major airlines fly into Metro, but Northwest Airlines has a hub in Detroit, so they offer a large selection of flights, fyi.

Airfare discount for wedding guests: Northwest offers a special wedding program for our wedding guests traveling from the US or Canada. Our guests will get $25 off $250-299 tickets; $45 off $300-459 tickets; and $70 off $450-749 tickets. Any tickets costing $750 or higher get $100 off. (All $$ are in US funds.)

I have certificates that must be used at the time you make your reservation. Just email me at kriscoll@umich.edu and I'll send you the certificate number by email and snail-mail you a hard copy. Up to five people can travel on each certificate, so you probably will only need one for the whole family. You should be able to use the certificates online but I can't guarantee it; if you can't, be sure to let me know so I can post that info here.

Getting to the hotel from the Airport: Cabs run between $40 and $50 for service to Ann Arbor. All the usual car rental companies are at Metro; here's a link to the ones that have offices in the terminals.

By Train from Toronto

For our friends and family from Toronto, it's not a bad drive to Ann Arbor - between 4.5 and 5 hours. Sergio and I have worn that path well since March, 2001! For detailed directions from Toronto, see the info below under "Automobiles."

If you would prefer not to drive, the train is a very nice way to get to Windsor. VIA Rail runs four trains a day from Toronto to Windsor at 7:50 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. The cost is around $150 CAD for a round-trip ticket. The trip takes about 4 hours. You will want to get a reservation - and they have student and senior citizen discounts, so be sure to ask about them.

Unfortunately, once you get off the train, you still have a little farther to go! There is a Hertz rental car agency at the train station in Windsor. You will need to make a reservation in advance as they don't do walk-ins. It's a 45 minute drive to Ann Arbor from the train station. You'll need to make your way to the Ambassador Bridge from the train station. Get on Riverside Drive, which is off Walker Road, going south. Follow the signs to the Ambassador Bridge (about 5 minutes, roughly), and follow the directions below to get to Ann Arbor from the Ambassador Bridge.

Getting to the Hotel

In the US: The hotel is right off I-94, just west of US-23, at exit 177. From Chicago/eastbound I-94: Turn left off exit onto State Street. From Detroit/westbound I-94: Turn right off exit onto State Street. Turn right onto the first street, Victors Way. Go one block to Boardwalk, turn left and go one half block - the Sheraton Inn Ann Arbor is on the left (3200 Boardwalk), and the Courtyard by Marriott is on the right (3205 Boardwalk).

The hotel has a map and directions online at: http://www.sheratonannarbor.com/map.asp

From Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Serge has detailed instructions here

Getting to the Church

From the hotel: Turn left onto Boardwalk from the parking lot. Turn left at the first light, which is Eisenhower Parkway. Turn right onto State Street, which is the first light. Take State Street north into downtown Ann Arbor. Turn left onto Liberty. There is a stop sign, and then you will turn left at the next street, which is Thompson Street. There is a parking structure on the left, and the church is just past the structure, at the corner of Thompson and William.

From the church to the Sheraton: Turn left out of the parking structure onto Thompson. Turn left at the first street, onto William. William deadends into State Street, and turn right onto State Street. Take State Street south until it intersects with Eisenhower Parkway. There is no left turn onto Eisenhower Parkway, so turn right (westbound) onto Eisenhower and then use the "traffic turnaround" on the immediate left to get on eastbound Eisenhower. Take Eisenhower east until Boardwalk, which is the first light after State Street; turn right on Boardwalk. The hotel is on the right, just past the entrance to Wendy's. The reception is in the Michigan Ballroom, which is at the west end of the hotel, and has a separate entrance.
