The truth is, a lot of students are being forced to make very difficult choices this year. As the Great Recession continues to stab and twist where it hurts most -- our pocketbooks -- we're all asking ourselves: What can we do without? While we wait helplessly for the dust to settle, it doesn't make a lot of sense to sit and talk about all of the shit that people need to buy for fall. If you would still like to inject your wardrobe with the new and trendy, though, here are a few tips: Text by Faria Jabbar All images from style.com

Boy Meets Girl Chic androgyny is a perennial runway favorite, and lately we've been seeing some really cool gender crossing pieces crop up on the street . Simple boy inspired clothing adds automatic chic to any look e.g. a simple white or navy oxford shirt tucked into skinny jeans/pants, or wingtips paired with tight ankle trousers that really show off the shoes. Suspenders, tuxedo inspired pants, and smoking jackets are also cool pieces in line with this trend. Curvy girls, be careful with this one, though -- the curve-less male physique doesn't always translate to girl friendly clothing, and some things simply may not work if you actually look like a chick from the neck down.
