Ozone House After-School Program

Ozone House provides many services for disadvantaged youths, who often have family and personal problems. They have been identified as a high risk group for domestic violence, neglect, and substance abuse. Over 98% of youths who received support from Ozone House have reported severe family conflicts and 66% have left home due to neglect, physical or sexual abuse.

One of Ozone House's services is to provide a safe and stimulating place for youths to come to after school. The program targets youths from the ages of 13 to 20 and Youth Hope Organization collaborates with Ozone House to create a program specialized for these youths. Members of YHO work to create new areas of focus, developing and leading workshops that address these areas. YHO hosts a workshop every other week during the semester. Since Winter 2010, we have had workshops that included SAT/ACT preparation, money management, professional development, cultural awareness, creative expression, and various science projects, in line with Ozone House's mission to help young people lead safe, healthy, and productive lives.

Community Action Network

Community Action Network partners with children, youth, and families from under-resourced Washtenaw County neighborhoods to create better futures for themselves, and to improve the communities in which they live. Youth Hope Organization (YHO) will be partnering with Community Action Network's (CAN) Bryant Community Center this year to provide student-led after-school public health workshops to elementary school children. Topics will range from nutrition and heart disease, to bacteria and emergency situations. CAN is a dominant force in our community and we look forward to improving our local neighborhoods with them!
