Youth Hope
Youth Hope is a grass-roots organization, established in April 2007 by four University of Michigan students who had a vision of establishing sustainable volunteer sites to promote the health and education of underprivileged children. In 2008 Youth Hope Organization (YHO) obtained its 501c(3) non-profit status. YHO is comprised of passionate and dedicated individuals who are eager to perform service and charity, with an emphasis on the importance of being a part of the community when volunteering. YHO also provides its members with resources to initiate new sites in places of need.
Youth Hope Organization's first volunteer site was in Anhui Province of China where we collaborated with a local NGO outreach center for youth. A team of YHO volunteers worked with children whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS, through mentorship and an educational program in English, Arts and Physical Education. YHO also mentored talented, underprivileged children at a Detroit home as a local site. YHO is currently in the process of adding volunteer sites in China and Haiti as well as working with other local sites in America.
