I was taken to the reception hall of Castle Amber and seated with three
strangely dressed individuals before Random and Vialle, the king and
queen. Also present was Bleys and several other members of the Amber
royal family who I did not recognize. Random spoke.
"You all have a lot of explaining to do."
He paced in front of us as we sat silent. A looked about me
at those around me.
Konstantin Lords -
Seated closest to me was a young man of about
average height. He was dressed simply and had paint on his shirt.
An artist perhaps.
Locke -
A huge tank of a man. He was dressed in a black leather
jacket and pants. This clothing possibly concealed armor of some
sort and he wore a sword at his belt. I could not recognize the
symbols on his jacket. This man had to be a warrior.
Jessica Hartbrooke -
Quite possibly the tallest woman I have ever met.
She looked quite strong and maybe a little nervous. She was dressed
in simple dark purple, loose fitting pants and a black sweater
with a C symbol.
None of us was doing any explaining, so Vialle elaborated.
"There has been an attack on the king and an attempt on Caine's life.
Am I to believe that the sudden appearance of you four here is
coincidence?"
There was something usual about Vaille aside from her slightly greenish
skin tint and bright green hair, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
I Iooked over at Bleys. He just sort of shrugged.
"May I cast a spell on those who will allow it? It should go a great way
towards clearing up our various motives." I suggested. I was hoping
to cast A Conduit of the Emotions
on the group around me and
A Conduit of the Thoughts on Random
so that he may share the information I gained. This would be very
enlightening to me, particularly if I could get away with a lightning
quick transfer of Random's thoughts to my subconcious at the moment
I broke contact.
"I don't think this is the time for your magics." said Fiona, Random's
sister and a powerful mage.
So be it. They questioned us to little effect. The other three were as
unsure about the situation as I was. Eventually a one armed man, who
appeared to be the captian of the guard, suggested the Random question
us individually. Random agreed. Fiona looked at us each in turn. She
was using some mystic method of
sizing us up, I could tell. She choose
Jessica to be the first one questioned. He lead her into a
side room with Fiona and Random.
This gave the rest of us a chance to talk.
Locke was the next to be questioned. Lastly, Random
questioned myself and the artist.
