Conia-Ene Reaction Review

The Conia-Ene reaction is a reaction that happens intramolecularly, thermally, or through the help of a Lewis acid. This particular kind of reaction happens on molecules that have a unit of unsaturation and the molecule becomes cyclized. The shift of a substituent (hydrogen, carbon, TBS in our case) generally follows. The Conia-Ene reaction is a specific variant of a general Ene Reaction, which is very similar to the Diels-Alder reaction. Below is a mechanism of a Conia-Ene reaction using a gold catalyst:
