Yanhua Chen

Yanhua Chen is currently an Application Programmer/Analyst at Division of Gastroenterology , Department of Internal Medicine, University of Michigan. Before that, she finished her Postdoc training in Department of Biostatistics , University of Michigan. In 2010, she received her PhD degree in the Department of Computer Science from Wayne State University, and in 2004, she got MS degree in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering from Michigan State University. Yanhua's current work foucses on the development of computational tools for the identification and study of genetic variants important in human disease, such as obesity.

Her research interests are in the areas of data mining, machine learning, and biomedical/health informatics. She has published several referred international journal and conference papers, including articles that appeared in IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (a best paper of ICDM 2007), IEEE Information Visualization Conference (IEEE Infovis), IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), ACM Multimedia Conference (ACM MM), ACM Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM), European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases (ECML PKDD), International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), International Conference of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BIOCOMP), IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering (TBME), IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering (TKDE), IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG) and International Journal of Knowledge and Information Systems (KAIS). She was awarded by CIFellow program, which is sponsored by The Computing Community Consortium (CCC) and the Computing Research Association (CRA), with funding for two-years ($267,500) from the National Science Foundation (NSF) in 2010.
