Wrigley's Chewing Gum

The Wrigley Company was founded by the Wrigley family in 1891 and the family has produced a multitude of brands with various flavors of gum ever since (31).   While gum was not a new invention by any means, the Wrigley Company's product was marketed in a way that revolutionized the industry.

Wrigley was in business, marketing baking powder, when he decided to use gum as an extra little gift to get people to buy baking powder (32).  After realizing gum had more potential, he started the Wrigley Chewing Gum Company. With numerous advertising techniques, Wrigley rose to the top of the industry (33).
