30 July 2248
The first day aboard my new shuttlecraft. It was called Bex Comet
by the previous owner. I like the name so I think I'll stick with
it. I bought it off some merchant captain we ran into the last time
we were at Mars. He needed the money to hire some fighter escorts
for some dangerous mission he was about to embark on. He said he'd
drop it off at Levo (in the Levo system) and I could pick it up
there. It's a little old, but I got it for around 6000 credits so I
think I got a good deal.
Anyway, I cleaned out the small space that served as my quarters
aboard the S.S. Molock for the last 5 years and took everything
over to Bex Comet. I'll have to live in the cargo hold for now, but
I plan on earning enough money for a bigger ship before the year is
out. I say my farewells to my friends and Capt. Stacy. I've been
First Mate on the Molock for the past 2 years and I was a little
sad to leave those I've come to think of as my family. I hope I see
them around the galaxy somewhere.
So, with a new starship, and 10000 credits still saved up, I land
on Levo and head to the nearest mission computer to look for some
work. Marauders and pirates have been increasing in number this
year, and there has been more reports than ever of ships losing
there cargo to these scoundrels. So I want to stay near the core
systems for a while, where few have been brave enough to venture
and where there are more patrol ships to help me out should I come
across one. Unfortunately, all the missions here are too far away
for me to risk it. So I decide to head to the Sol system where
hopefully I'll have some better luck finding some work.
4 August 2248
Land at Earth (Sol system) after a very uneventful trip from Levo.
I was lucky enough to find a job that will pay me 25000 credits.
I've got to take 10 tons of equipment to New Istanbul. There aren't
any other missions on Earth so I think I'll drop by Stardock Alpha
before heading for New Istanbul tomorrow to see if I can pick up
some passengers who might be heading that way.
5 August 2248
I docked at Stardock Alpha this morning but there was no one going
the same direction as me. I was getting ready to leave when I was
hailed by the S.S. Molock. I was surprised to see Capt. Stacy so
soon after my departure. He said that they were supposed to take
some passengers to Spica but they were going to be delayed and
wondered if I wanted to take them. Spica's only 2 jumps from New
Istanbul, and it's almost a fringe system which means marauders and
pirates, but I agree anyway since I haven't had the best of luck so
far in finding missions.
After spending the afternoon with my friends from the Molock, I
depart for New Istanbul and Spica the morning of the 6th.
10 August 2248
I arrived at New Istanbul (Yemuro system) and delivered the
equipment before the deadline. I make the trek to the mission
computer to look for another job, but as seems to be my luck
lately, they are too far and too dangerous. I'm not looking forward
to the trip to Spica. I don't want to be blasted out of space. On
the other hand, I do like having my own ship, it took me four years
to save up about 16000 credits. I just got paid 25000 today. So
with that in mind my passengers and I load up and head for Spica on
the 11th.
13 August 2248
Dropped off the passengers at the space dock on Spica (Spica
system) this morning. We had a safe trip from New Istanbul. The
only fighting we saw was a Confederate Patrol ship trying to take
out a Rebel Destroyer yesterday while passing through the Kathoon
system. The Confederate ship exploded just as we jumped out of the
system.
I haven't thought too much about the Civil War lately. On the
Molock, we just went about doing our business not getting involved
with either side. I think one day I'll have to pick a side I guess.
But I'll worry about that when it comes.
Anyway, I spent the afternoon looking around the spaceport. I found
a couple of great shops, some places even carry some stuff that
would be illegal closer to Sol. This would be a great place to
outfit a ship. I'm not going to buy anything for Bex Comet right
now since I'm trying to save up enough money for a bigger
scoutship.
Near the end of the day I go make the trip to the mission computer.
There's a well paying mission to Hikeeba, but that's farther out
than Spica, so I settle for a less profitable mission to deliver 18
tons of metal to Luna for 10000 credits. I leave Spica 14 Aug.
18 August 2248
Arrived at Landfall (Centauri system) to refuel for the remaining
jump to Sol. I think my luck with finding missions might be
starting to turn because I ran into some Confederation citizens who
say they'll pay me 35000 credits if I can get them to New France
before the 28th.
20 August 2248
I deliver the metal to Luna (Sol system), refuel and head for New
France.
24 August 2248
Arrive at New France (Regulus system) and drop off the Confed.
Citizens. There are hundreds of gift shops and burger bars around.
I've been eating out of my ship for the past 3 weeks so I figure
I'll treat myself to a meal at one of the burger bars. I ask the
locals and one of them directs me to a joint called Ronald's Place.
There's some statue out front of a very pale-skinned fellow who's
sort of dressed like he's some sort of engineer or something. I ask
who the fellow is out front and the girl who takes my order says,
"Oh, that's Ronald".
"Odd looking guy", I mumble and ask, "Who is he?"
"He's used to be a big business merchant from Earth."
"Oh," is all I reply as I look at the menu and try to figure out
what to order. I decide on a burger called a Royal With Cheese,
which is pretty good. I head back to Bex Comet after dinner
thinking I should come to Ronald's Place again sometime.
25 August 2248
Got up early to check the mission computer. Found two jobs in the
Sol system. A rush delivery of 15 tons of medical supplies to Earth
for 25000, and transport some Confederation settlers to Mars by the
3rd for 35000. This will be a very profitable run for me. I load
the medical supplies while the settlers get their stuff together
and climb aboard Bex Comet. We leave just after lunch.
28 August 2248
I drop off the Confederation settlers on Mars (Sol system).
29 August 2248
Deliver the medical supplies to a very relieved doctor on Earth
(Sol system). I haven't done too bad so far. I've been lucky enough
not to come across any marauders or pirates, and I've been working
for only about a month and I'm only about 40000 credits from having
enough to get a scoutship.
30 August 2248
Hired on to take 19 tons of industrial goods to Zaxted Starport. I
got Bex Comet outfitted with an escape pod and leave Earth 31
Aug.
3 September 2248
I was attacked by Pirates in the Altair system, only one jump away
from Zaxted. The warning went off only second's before the first
missile hit me. A Confederate Patrol Fighter took out the Firebird
Raider nearest to me, but the Dark Stalker ship finished me off. I
just barely made it into my escape pod and ejected. Once again I
found myself drifting in space hoping someone would pick me up. I
finally made it back to Levo again.
4 October 2248
Once again, I got hooked up with another shuttlecraft. I snagged a
mission to haul 10 tons of medical supplies to Luna. Leave Levo 5
Oct.
8 October 2248
Arrived in the Sol system and deliverwd the medical supplies to
Luna (Sol system). I caught a glimpse of a new Confederate
Baseship. It was very impressive, very big. Picked up some
Confederate Citizens to take them to Hodgson's World. Outfitted Bex
Comet with an escape pod and left Luna 10 Oct.
13 October 2248
Landed at Hodgson's World (Matar system) and dropped off the
passengers. I've been running across some ships I've never seen
before lately. Today I saw one that I didn't even believe existed.
It was one of those rumored Wraith Missile Cruisers. I jumped into
the Matar system within sight if the Wraith. I only got brief
glimpse at it as it jumped out. It looked pretty formidable. I
think it would be nice to fly one of those things around one day.
If I run across another one, I'll try and get a picture of it.
Next mission, deliver 12 tons of Medical Supplies to Luna. Left
Hodgson's World 14 Oct.
17 October 2248
Arrived at Luna (Sol system) and delivered the goods. Off to Sirius
Station to deliver 19 tons of Luxury Goods. Left Luna 18 Oct.
20 October 2248
Docked at Sirius Station (Sirius system) and delivered my cargo. A
Rebel Destroyer was blasting away at Confederate ships in the
system until a Confederate Frigate jumped in. There was a big
battle pretty close to the station. I stopped to watch while on my
way to find a new mission. The Confederate Frigate finally
destroyed the Rebel but not without sustaining heavy damage itself.
I'm not sure who I side with in the Civil War. I'll hold off
choosing sides for as long as possible.
Was hired on to haul 19 tons of Industrial Goods to Tabletop. Leave
21 Oct.
24 October 2248
Delivered cargo to Tabletop (Eridani system). Next stop, drop of
some Confederate Citizens on Merlin. Leave 25 Oct.
27 October 2248
Dropped off the passengers on Merlin (Tau Ceti system). Now I'm
taking some Confederate Citizens to New Britain. Leave 28 Oct.
8 December 2248
Earth (Sol system). I've just been doing some routine stuff, just
picking up cargo or passengers here and delivering them there.
Nothing unusual until today. A major battle took place in the Sol
system. Just after I arrived in the system, a Rebel Cruiser and 4
Rebel Destroyers jumped in. But there was a Confederate Base Ship,
8 Confederate Frigates, and 2 Confederate Gunboats waiting to take
the Rebels on. For a minute there, it seemed like the space around
Earth was filled with ships fighting each other. The Rebels were
out manned though and the Confederates were able to destroy the
Rebel ships.
I've been saving up and today sold my Shuttlecraft and bought a new
Clipper. I've decided to keep the name Bex Comet for whatever ship
I happen to be flying at the time. It's kept me alive so far.
After looking the new Bex Comet over, I decided to modify it a
little more to my liking. I was able to sell off the 3 Proton
Cannons that are standard on a Clipper and I bought and installed 4
Laser Cannons and a Proton Turret. I also installed an escape pod
(my personal life saver), density scanner, and IFF decoder.
All in all, I like what I've got now and I still have a little over
200,000 credits saved up. My next goals for Bex Comet are to get a
missile jammer and an engine upgrade. Then I think I'll be ready to
take on the more risky missions through Pirate infested space and
explore the universe a little more. Leave Earth 16 Dec.
1 January 2249
Celebrated the New Year in a bar on Turin V (Turin system). I'm
just working on saving up for those ship upgrades I want so I can
go out and do a little exploring.
10 January 2249
Happy New Year. I was jumped by some more Pirates in the Yemuro
system. I never saw the ships as missiles just kept hitting me. I
was forced to eject. I only had my new ship a little over a month
and now I was sitting there in my escape pod watching it explode.
Once again I drifted a little while before getting picked up and
taken to Levo. All these Pirates are starting to really piss me
off. When I have a strong enough ship, I'm going to blast every
Pirate I come across out of space.
10 February 2249
Here I am again leaving Levo in yet another Shuttlecraft. This
really sucks. What credits I still have I'll spend on another
Clipper when I reach Earth.
16 February 2249
I went to Earth's (Sol system) shipyards again and picked out
another Clipper. I think this is the fourth or fifth ship of mine
to bear the name Bex Comet in less than a year. Pirate's missiles
have been my major nemesis up to this point so my first order of
business after getting a new ship and outfitting it with an Escape
Pod is to install a Flare Launcher and Decoy Flares. Once again, I
replaced the stock Proton Cannons with 4 Laser Cannons. Also
outfitted my new ship with a Density Scanner and an IFF Decoder.
I'll do a couple of cargo runs to raise some money for a Flare
Launcher, then a Proton Turret. I'm down to about 20,000 credits so
I'm trying to find some cargo work again.
27 February 2249
I picked up a Flare Launcher and 10 Decoy Flares while on Capella
(Capella system) today.
19 March 2249
I outfitted Bex Comet with a Proton Turret while docked at Stardock
Alpha (Sol system) today.
3 September 2249
Alkaidion (Alkaid system). Finally, some ship enhancements for Bex
Comet. I got a thrust enhancement, an engine upgrade, and an RCS
upgrade. That pretty much wiped out my credits but I think I'm
ready to go exploring. Leave Alkaidion 4 Sep.
8 September 2249
Palshife (Satori system), home of the Rebel High Command. Palshife
is a beautiful world. Almost all water, islands, and sky. I finally
found a missile jammer and outfitted Bex Comet with it. I also
installed a ramscoop, just in case I explore too far and run out of
fuel. Now I'll be able to regenerate fuel slowly as I fly around. I
picked up a shipment of food to take to Halley's World. I've never
heard of Halley's World before but I can go explore a part of the
galaxy I've never seen. Leave Palshife 10 Sep.
19 September 2249
I was attacked by a Firebird Raider in the NGC-1023 system near the
Cygnus system. I felt confident that I could take the Pirate on
since his shields were low from just finishing up a skirmish with a
Rebel Manta. I tried a couple of fly-bys. Both of us blasting with
everything we had then turning around and going at it again. After
2 passes I decided the Pirate was getting the best of me so I tried
a new tactic. I flew away from the Raider. Letting inertia continue
carrying me away from the Pirate, I turned Bex Comet around and
blasted with my four laser cannons and my proton turret as the
Pirate very slowly overtook me. The trick worked as I was able to
destroy the Firebird Raider before it could get close enough to use
its weapons.
20 September 2249
Attacked again by a Firebird Raider. This time in the NGC-1701
system. I used the same tactic as yesterday and easily defeated the
Pirate. It's nice to be able to defend myself sometimes now instead
of running all the time.
22 September 2249
Denali (Denali system). I'm on a world I've never heard of before.
I found out from some of the locals though that Denali is a
"gateway system"--it's the only hyperspace entrance to the northern
(on the map) region of space. There are tons of travelers and
traders at the spaceport. Leave 23 Sep. to find my way to Halley's
World.
25 September 2249
Berohnor (Thargon system) is the homeworld of the Thargonian
Triumvirate, a small empire of three planets in the Thargon system.
The society here is somewhat feudalistic. I saw my next ship
though, a Thargonian Corvette. I just need to save up 2.5 million
credits. Leave 27 Sep.
3 October 2249
I saw a Condor ship for the first time today while flying through
the Cassiopeia system. It resembles a Kestrel, only A LOT larger.
There's another dream ship for me.
4 October 2249
Halley's World (Halley's Star system). I was attacked by Pirates
flying two Scoutships as I jumped in to the system. Using the "let
them slowly overtake me" method, I easily destroyed them both while
only sustaining minimal damage. I dropped off my cargo at the
spaceport. There's a terrible civil war going on right now on the
planet. Luckily I picked up a mission to deliver some luxury goods
to Exlagre. Leave Halley's World 6 Oct.
1 December 2249
I was returning from the mission to Exlagre, passing through the
Halley's Star system. I saw a fleet of Alien ships. I've heard
rumors of their speed and powerful weapons so I didn't want to mess
with them. I jumped out as fast as I could. Bex Comet received some
serious damage before I could make the hyperspace jump but at least
I survived. Those Alien ships sure do look pretty cool though.
16 December 2249
Bex Comet was destroyed today somewhere near the Satori system.
While passing through, Bex Comet came upon a very large marauding
fleet of Alien ships. While preparing for the hyperspace jump,
several unknown Alien projectiles slammed into the ship, destroying
it. Captain Remo is believed to not have survived as there is still
no trace of an escape pod...
